General Office Policies

Our New Patient "Referral-Only" Policy

How is an appointment made?

We see patients on a "referral only" basis. This means that you MUST be referred by a Primary Care Physician (PCP). We must also be forwarded all office notes from your PCP.

What if you have seen another Neurologist?

If you have already seen a different Neurologist, we must be forwarded those notes before an appointment can be made.

Who will handle your Non-Neurologic medical needs?

Since we are a "specialist", we will not be able to treat your non-neurological problems. Hence, you must maintain an on-going relationship with your PCP to handle all your general medical, non-neurologic, needs.

Our Office Policy on Medication Refills

What medications will be refilled?

Our office will only refill those medications we have prescribed, and only if you are an active patient in our office.

How many refills will be prescribed?

Typically, Dr. Athni will have given you enough refills to last you until your next follow-up visit. In case you run out of refills before your next visit, please ask your pharmacist to call us, at which time Dr. Athni will authorize the refills. Refills will only be authorized till your next follow up visit.

NOTE: If you do not have a scheduled follow up visit, then refills will NOT be authorized.

NOTE: We will only refill medications during normal business hours. After hours, only emergency medications will be refilled.
