Work Injuries - Workman's Compensation

Does Dr. Athni treat work injuries?

Yes. Neurological problems arising from work injuries are thoroughly evaluated and treated by Dr. Athni. If requested or necessary, we will also take on the role of "primary treating physician".

How does the office handle work injuries?

All work injury patients will be confirmed and verified by the employer or workers comp insurance company. Our office staff will obtain approval / pre-authorization, in writing, for all services provided, including the initial consultation, follow-up visits, and any diagnostic tests. This will ensure that both the Employer and Insurance Company are fully aware and kept up-to-date of all treatment plans.

When will the injury-evaluation report be made available?

A report is immediately dictated and typed. Typically, within 72 hours after the office visit,a copy of the report is faxed to the employer or adjustor. A copy is also sent along with the bill.

Back to work status:

We are keenly aware of “lost work time” due to work injuries. Hence, our primary objective is to help the injured employee recover as quickly as possible, so he or she can return to work. If necessary, Dr. Athni will provide work restrictions, disability rating and estimate the date of MMI.

Billing for our services:

We bill our services on a HCFA-1500 claim form. The bill is mailed to the insurance company, along with a copy of the office notes. We adhere to the Georgia Worker’s Compensation Fee Schedule for all our services.
